SPcam

SPCamTM is a third generation ultra-violet (UV) SO2 camera (Burton, Prata and Platt, 2015) specifically designed for easy use in the field, at industrial plants, harbours or ports to quickly measure SO2 column abundances. The camera’s patented hardware design and software permits rapid assessment of SO2 exceedances using ultra-violet (UV) light by remote sensing at distances of 10’s of metres to a few kilometres.

Cruise ship entering Kongsfjord, Svalbard and emitting SO2 into the pristine Arctic atmosphere

SPCam can be used to determine emission rates from ships and using our special chart we can determine thresholds for S-content in bunker fuel used by shipping.
